HOW TO APPLY TO THE MUNCIE ELECTRICAL JATC
QUALIFICATIONS TO APPLY
• High School Graduate or GED
• Successful completion of one year of high school algebra
* Valid Driver's License
• 17 years old to apply and 18 to begin on-the-job training.
• If applying as a current High School Senior, you will need a letter from your
school counselor stating that you are on track to graduate.

METHOD OF APPLICATION
• We take applications on a year-round basis.
• There is a $25.00 application fee at time of application.
• Upload/submit within 15 business days: High School transcript or GED with proof of Algebra, Diploma, Driver's License. (Resumes are recommended but not required.)
• If the application is complete, and you meet all the above-mentioned requirements, you will be contacted by us and instructed when to take an aptitude test.
• If you score a 4 or higher on the aptitude test you will be scheduled for an oral interview with the full Committee. Interviews are typically once a year in the Spring.
• During the interview you will be rated and ranked along with the other applicants.
• Based on industry need, the Apprenticeship Committee will determine how many applicants will be offered the apprenticeship.
• There will be a pre-indenture drug test for those selected.
• If you are not selected, you will remain on the ranking list for a period of one year.
• It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure all documentation has been received by the JATC.

THE APPRENTICESHIP
• Your apprenticeship will consist of five years of school and a minimum of 8,000 hours of on-the-jobtraining (OJT).
• This apprenticeship is jointly governed by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the National Electrical Contractors Association.
• You will be registered with the Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training as an indentured apprentice.

THE SCHOOL
• You will receive college credit while attending our classes
• You will attend a minimum of 144 hours of classroom instruction per year for five years. School is held in the evenings at our modern facility.
• You will receive a 10-hour OSHA safety course and CPR/First aid training.
• You will need a Windows based laptop and access to the internet for the duration of apprenticeship.
• The only fee you will have while attending school will be the cost of your books, which currently averages $700.00 per year.

• You will be responsible for monthly work reports.

OUR JURISDICTION
The jurisdiction of our Local Union covers the following nine counties: Blackford, Delaware, Fayette,Franklin, Henry, Jay, Randolph, Wayne, and Union. You will be expected to be ready to work in any of these counties.
